Rise Hair Salon

If you know me, you'll know that I'm always on the hunt for the holy grail of hairstyles.  If I grow my hair long, I'll get the itch to chop it off and once it's short, I'll want swishy long locks again.

In the last two years, I've been through a disastrous rebonding, followed by a short perm that grew out, a trim and partial rebonding, followed by a bunch of unsatisfactory shorter cuts.  With all of that, came the constant trial and error search for THE stylist.

After my current bob grew out all straggly and rebelled one bad hair day, I decided enough was enough and started researching again for the next salon/stylist to try.  It really was a very impulsive decision when I saw good reviews of Rise Hair Salon online, and in a flash, I'd made my appointment for that evening.  Of course, it helped that the salon was a 5 minute walk from the office so I could bolt there  after work for hair salvation.

As a Japanese salon, Rise Hair Salon comes with all the good things you might expect - a relaxing environment, attentive stylists and top-notch service. Oh, and great hair-washing skills!  Anyone who's suffered in the hands of overzealous shampoo aunties will know what I mean.  No scalp scratching and definitely no water splashed on your face, only yummy smelling shampoo and a good head massage. Plus, you won't be shuttled around on your visit as each stylist attends to you from start to finish.

Best of all, the stylists are very good at what they do.  It's just two male stylists for now - Yohei (Director) and Teru (Senior Hairstylist), and I can personally attest that their skills are excellent.  Yohei helped transform my straggly, over-thinned cut into a sleek bob and passed on some great tips for styling it on my own.  I was so impressed that I brought the bf back a few days later and Teru did a good job as well.  In fact, his style looks great just air-dried and even without any wax or product.

So long story short, I think I've found the right stylist and salon, and will definitely be back!

  2. Hi, glad to hear you found THE stylist. I have been on the look out for one since my regular hair stylist went back to Msia. :-( I was also thinking of trying out Rise Hair Salon. But I am not familiar with the raffles place and china town area. Can you help me with some questions that I have?
1.Is it easier to walk from Chinatown MRT or Raffles Place MRT ?
    2. Is there any landmark I can look out for?
    3. Is the hair salon on the second floor? If yes, what shop should I look out for on the first floor?
    4. What colour is the building?

    Thank you. :-)

  3. Hi Anon, sorry for the late reply as I just saw your comment.

    1. It'd be nearer from Chinatown MRT if you take the Chinatown Point exit
    2. Look out for the multi-storey car park opposite the Cross St side of China Square
    3. It's on the ground floor of a shophouse, that's cream in colour (I think)

    Hope that helps! :)
